Hopkins County Emergency Officials Say Power Could Be Out For Two Weeks

HOPKINS CO., KY - NEWS 25 continues to watch the dire situation in Hopkins County, KY.
We just spoke with Jim Needs who is with the Hopkins County Emergency Management Agency.

Needs said he has been talking to Kenergy & Kentucky Utilities officials who say the power in the county may be out for a while. He said Kenergy told him it could be two weeks before power is restored to customers there. KU told Needs that 24 major transmission lines were down.

Despite the bleak energy outlook, Needs said communication in the county is improving. He said AT&T service is up again.

Needs told us that emergency officials are trying to get a generator to power the water pumps in the South Hopkins water district. They are also trying to route some water from the North Hopkins water district down to the south district.
